Knock-out closes in on teams

Basketball lovers across Botswana will this weekend get treated to thrilling action as the ongoing basketball league reaches the knock out stages. Every competing team will be looking to save themselves from getting axed from the race to a huge sum of money.

According to a brief made recently by the league committee the level of play is impressive. They revealed that teams have grown to be very competitive against each other, showing each other no mercy in an attempt to take home the prize money.

What began as a simple attempt to bring basketball back to life in Gaborone quickly rose to become the weekend hub of basketball over the course of 3 months, overtaking the Botswana Basketball league that has been running since the 1980’s.

The founder of the league, Churchill Barrows, says, “One Friday evening I walked to the UB courts to play basketball and found no one. Not a single soul at the basketball courts because people were so used to waiting on the Botswana Basketball League to start before being active in basketball again. So I took it upon myself to bring to life a league that will satisfy the hunger of those who are willing to play.”
