Last evening, the Minister for State President, Honorable Moeti C. Mohwasa, officially launched the revamped radio program, #Excellence, by the Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM). The event marked a significant step toward fostering greater public participation in government affairs and improving the quality of public service in Botswana.
In his keynote address, Minister Mohwasa emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders in driving meaningful change. He acknowledged the key contributions of DPSM, Bpomas, NMG, Duma FM, and Bona Life, highlighting their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the program. Hon. Mohwasa noted that such initiatives are vital for building a more productive, responsive, and accountable public service in Botswana.
The #Excellence radio program, which will air every Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, is designed to provide a platform for citizens to engage with government services. It offers an opportunity for the public to voice their concerns, offer suggestions for improvement, and interact directly with decision-makers. Minister Mohwasa encouraged the public to actively tune in to the program, framing it as an opportunity for personal growth and reflection on crucial issues like financial literacy, health, pension funds, and employment policies.
Duma FM Station Manager, Mr. Donald Seberane, highlighted the groundbreaking nature of the #Excellence program, noting its three-hour airtime as a first in Botswana’s radio industry. He also pointed out that Duma FM’s broad daily reach of 85,000 local listeners would help expand the program’s impact and ensure its success.
The launch of #Excellence reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing transparency, openness, and citizen engagement. Through such initiatives, the government aims to create a more accessible and responsive platform for improving service delivery across the nation. Starting on April 1, 2025, the #Excellence program promises to be a pivotal tool in strengthening Botswana’s public service framework, fostering greater interaction between the government and the people it serves.
