HIS LORDSHIP CHIEF JUSTICE RANNOWANE LAUNCHES THE BEGINNING OF THE LEGAL YEAR
The president of the Republic of Botswana Dr Mokgweetsi Eric keabetswe Masisi today graced the official annual opening of the Legal year at the Gaborone High Court in Gaborone.
In his address His Lordship Chief Justice Terence T. Rannowane announced the theme of the legal year 2024 being ‘Judiciary as an Independent Arm of Government’, saying this reiterates a practice done by Democratic countries worldwide and it enables constructive improvements in upholding the rule of law and its faithful application without fear in the decision making process.
His Lordship stated that to focus the country on understanding the important role of the judiciary informs constructive suggestions to improve the national system,saying that maintenance of peace and tranquility is core for Democratic Governance.
His Lordship acknowledged that Botswana’s criminal system is recognized as the best in Africa saying that this is pleasing as the nation aims for the world class judiciary in line with the national reset agenda.
