HIS HONOUR THE VICE PRESIDENT TO ATTEND THE 37TH ORDINARY SESSION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT OF THE AFRICAN UNION
His Honour the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Mr. Slumber Tsogwane, will on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, attend the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, on 17th-18th February 2024, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Summit will bring together Heads of State and Government as well as leaders of International institutions. It will discuss various issues including climate change; continental peace and security; trade; education; gender and youth empowerment. Additionally, the Summit will consider a number of strategic reports such as those pertaining to the institutional reform of the African Union, and the report of the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). This year’s Summit will be held under the theme, “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”
The Summit will be preceded by the 44th Session of the Executive Council (Ministers of Foreign Affairs) which will be held on, 14th – 15th February 2024. His Honour the Vice President, will be accompanied by Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Honourable Dr. Douglas Letsholathebe, Minister of Education and Skills Development; Honourable Mr. Mmusi Kgafela, Minister of Trade and Industry, as well as Senior Government Officials.
