His Honour Mr Slumber Tsogwane, the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana on the occasion of Nurses Day in Tsabong, today commended nurses for their steadfast loyalty to their profession and serving Batswana with compassion.
The Vice President said Nurse’s day is meant to highlight the importance of nurses and midwives in the healthcare sector, and shinning the spotlight on their commitment on a daily basis.
His Honour emphasised that Nurses are the pillar of the nation’s healthcare system and provide needed care in our health facilities with zeal.
On another note, His Honour said Government is aware of challenges faced by nurses hence constant engagement with Nurse’s Union Leaders to find long term solutions for those challenges.
Mr Peter Baleseng, Botswana Nurses Union President in his address submitted that they have about 5000 nurses on C1 scale and pleaded with the leadership to create posts for nurses to be promoted.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were Honourable Minister of Health Dr Edwin Dikoloti, Member of Parliament Sam Brooks and other senior officials.
