Lobatse Town Clerk, Ms. Lenamile Taolo, has reported that most primary schools in Lobatse have been severely affected by the ongoing heavy rains. The hardest-hit schools include Pitikwe, Hill, Maitlamo, Peleng, Peleng West, Bothakga, and one Day Care center, all of which now require urgent re-roofing.
According to Ms. Taolo, assessments have been conducted to determine the extent of the damage. It is estimated that all affected primary schools will need approximately P800,000 for maintenance and repairs. The heavy rains have weakened infrastructure, making immediate intervention necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Local authorities are now working on mobilizing resources to address the damage. Ms. Taolo emphasized the importance of restoring the schools as quickly as possible to minimize disruptions to learning.
The Lobatse community and relevant stakeholders are expected to collaborate in finding solutions, including potential funding sources, to ensure schools are repaired and made safe for learners.
