In his keynote address during the National Arts Festival 2024 held at Mogoditshane SSKB Auditorium, the Honourable Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Tumiso Rakgare stated that the Government of Botswana is committed to the development of the creative and cultural sector, which has a high potential for creating jobs, both formal and informal.
He indicated that the creative and cultural sector is among the most dynamic sector providing opportunities to grow, support and attract investment, develop entrepreneurs and come up with innovative ways to promote cultural diversity.
The National Arts Festival objectives are to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of our culture as a nation, to raise the profiles of Botswana creatives and to help creatives realise their full potential. He further urged Batswana to appreciate not only the competitions but to also realise that it is inclusive of economic empowerment activities.
