Government Calls Out Fake Kaone Boko

In a bid to protect citizens from a circulating scam, the Office of the President has issued a warning against a fraudulent social media message falsely attributed to the First Lady, Mrs. Kaone Boko. The deceptive message invites the public to invest in a bank purportedly endorsed by the President, Mr. Duma Gideon Boko, and managed by Honourable Ms. Lesego Chombo.

This fraudulent message, found on a fake Facebook profile under the name “Mrs Kaone Boko” , urges people to contribute a “funding fee” of P500, with a promise of a P5000 return on investment within just three days. The government has made it clear that this message is a scam and warned that such claims are false, with no basis in reality.

In an official statement, the Office of the President urged the public to ignore this social media post, emphasizing that it is a scam aimed at defrauding unsuspecting individuals of their money. “The social media post in question is false and at best a scam that seeks to defraud the unsuspecting public of their hard-earned cash,” read the statement.

The government further encouraged the public to exercise caution, stay vigilant, and avoid engaging with individuals who promote similar schemes. Social media scams often use names of high-profile individuals to deceive the public, and the Office of the President has expressed concern that scammers may continue to exploit the First Lady’s name to establish false credibility.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to investigate this incident and work toward taking down the fake accounts promoting the scam. Meanwhile, citizens are advised to report suspicious social media activity to relevant platforms and refrain from sharing or engaging with unverified messages that solicit money or personal information.

The government’s response serves as a reminder of the importance of caution and digital awareness as scams continue to evolve. The public is encouraged to always verify information through official channels before engaging with unsolicited offers or promises of quick financial returns.
