Minister of Local Government, Ketlhalefile Motshegwa, has confirmed that the government is providing vital assistance to flood victims in the Mmadinare constituency by distributing food parcels. This comes as the northern parts of Botswana have been experiencing heavy rainfall, which has led to flooding in several areas, including Palapye, Shoshong, and Robelela village.

Minister Motshegwa explained that the ongoing heavy showers have caused significant damage, particularly to residential homes. Some houses have been severely impacted by rising water levels, with others completely swept away by the floods. The Minister expressed concern for the affected communities and assured residents that the government is doing everything possible to provide immediate relief.

In addition to food aid, government teams have been deployed to assess the extent of the damage and determine further support that may be required in the coming days. The distribution of food parcels is aimed at ensuring that the displaced families receive essential supplies to help them through this difficult time.

Motshegwa further emphasized that the government remains committed to assisting those affected by the floods, working in collaboration with local authorities to provide both short-term relief and long-term recovery support. He encouraged affected residents to stay safe and assured them that the government is actively addressing the challenges posed by the floods.

As the region continues to battle the effects of the severe weather, the government’s swift response highlights its dedication to ensuring the well-being of citizens during times of crisis.
