Gogontlejang Phaladi Honored By Queen Elizabeth II

Gogontlejang Phaladi who has been a philanthropist since she was a pre-school kid has been honored by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II recognising her as the 10th Commonwealth Point of Light award recipient.

The award honours Phaladi for her exceptional and selfless voluntary service advocating for human rights and gender equality.

23 year old Phaladi started her humanitarian project- Gogontlejang Phaladi Pillar of Hope Project’s (GPPHP), in the year 2000 at a tender age of five.

She will receive her prestigious award next week Wednesday at the High Commission’s Office in Gaborone and it will be presented by British High Commissioner, Katy Ransome.

During the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting Her Majesty the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth, is rewarding inspirational volunteers across the 52 Commonwealth nations for the difference they are making in their communities and beyond.

Phaladi’s admirable non-profit making organization has a broad mandate that focuses on philanthropy, humanitarian work, community building, human rights advocacy as well as issues of child protection and violence against women and girls.

Phaladi started a mentorship scheme through her initiative ‘She Is My Inspiration’, working with girls and women promoting leadership and self actualisation.

In her appreciation message to Her Majesty, Phaladi said she was deeply humbled and thankful for the honour.
