First Setswana Animation Series To Be Launched this Week
Mellow Deeds, in collaboration with Children Association of Performing Arts Botswana (CHIPABO) and Matimpole Arts, will launch the first ever Setswana Animation Series called Makepe Tales on Thursday at Masa Square Hotel.
Makepe Televison series producer Oageng Lemogang told the media that they will finally launch the series after tough years of planning and production and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development is sponsoring the project.
Makepe Tales is the first of its kind. It is a 13 episode 2D animation that is set in an imaginary remote area near Serowe called Matimpole.
“It is a set of Setswana tales (mainane), customised to teach children morality in this modern life,” Lemogang explained. He added that they are a group of young people who are passionate and well learned in animation and performing arts
The launch is expected to last for two hours and will attract attendees such as government officials, media and arts stakeholders from as far as South Africa, Kenya and Pennsylvania.
