A few days just after Gaborone fashion lovers thronged the prestigious Grand Palm Hotel and casino convention resort for the Yarona FM music awards, the hall was yet again treated to another beauty of fashion made from different fabrics from local designers. The event initially organised as a wedding expo thrilled attendees with its style and exquisite. Katlego Mogorosi who was the guest public relations for the event said that the fashion show was gratifying and rewarding to those looking out on the designs from the audience.
Local designers gave the audience a feel of their own fashion approach with dresses that emitted floras and some even wedding cakes. African attire designer Kabo Moreeng said that his personality is displayed in the work that he had come to showcase during the fashion show.
“Sometimes it is hard for me to articulate my different ideas to others but when I design I get to reveal the inner part of me I would not have been able to share with others,” he said. Moreeng said that the fashion show is a stepping stone to greater heights for him as a designer because through the showcasing event he is awarded an opportunity to play around with fabrics which get to be shown to the rest of the public unlike keeping them at his operation place.
GICC carpet that that as smeared with what seemed like fresh rose petals and lilies gave another exciting platform for Tshepo Kekana who had designed a dress made from what looked like cupcake petals said that uniqueness was all she had to portray in the evening. “I have been in the cake making business so what I had in mind was to consolidate my cake making ideas with wedding designs into one,” said the elated kekana. The convention was set ablaze by the local song pundit Lizibo as models rocked the ramp.
