FA Cup In Every Country Is Important,” Tshepo Molwane
Sports journalist Tshepo Molwane took us through memory lane, when we used to look forward to FA cup. “FA Cup in every country is important because it plays a pivotal role towards development of football. It gives little known clubs a chance to test their strengths against bigger sides. It also improves level of competition in lower divisions because clubs wanna take part in FA Cup the following season,” he said.
“Who will forget smaller clubs which used to cause stir in local football; Makgabisanaga (Maun), Stone Breakers (Letlhakane), Kopong Classic (Kopong), Peace Makers (Bobonong), Debswana Young Stars (Jwaneng), Mokgosi Young Fighters (Ramotswa), Diamond Chiefs (Orapa), Maumo (Mogoditshane), Mochudi Buffaloes (Mochudi), Kang Western Swallows (Kang), Continental Aces (Phikwe), Space Moonlanders (Gaborone), Gantsi Terrors (Gantsi) etc,” he reminisced.
Tshepo urged the powers that be to bring back the FA cup. “We want that excitement, upsets and unearth talent!” Tshepo concluded. We hope that it will be back and revive our ailing football fraternity. Those were the days, and everyone was happy.
