Euro 2016 Kicks Off!
Today marks the start of the long awaited Euro 2016, after months of build-up, the big day is finally here, as Euro 2016 kicks off as the Stade de Paris tonight, when host France take on Romania in Group A. All 24 teams are ready to go, as fans get set for a month of high octane action across the Channel.
Hosts, France, defending champions Spain and Germany start the tournament as favorites. Perennial under-performers England and Portugal cannot be ruled out. England are likely to perform better at Euro 2016 when their games are broadcast on the BBC, if the last 20 years are anything to go by. Spain have won the last two Euros, in 2008 when Austria and Switzerland co-hosted and four years later when Poland and Ukraine shared the event
Goal machine, working class hero and proper legend Jamie Vardy is the obvious candidate to be the Euro 2016 poster boy after his 24 goals saw Leicester City to the title. The 29-year-old was an unknown semi-professional just six years ago, but now he’s England’s star striker and has a Hollywood movie about his life in the making.
