Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Science, Dr Margaret Mokomane, has called on new pharmacy students to remain committed to their professional code of ethics by treating all patients with respect and building trust while maintaining professional boundaries.

Dr Mokomane delivered the remarks during the School of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony, held under the theme “Upholding the Culture of Excellence in Pharmacy Practice in These Changing Times.” The ceremony marked an important milestone in the academic journey of the pharmacy students as they begin their professional training.

In her address, Dr Mokomane emphasized the importance of professionalism, empathy, excellence, and compassion in the delivery of healthcare services. She reminded the students that their interaction with patients should reflect genuine care, respect, and a dedication to ethical practice.

She also highlighted the practical responsibilities that come with the profession, advising students to maintain accurate records, uphold inventory management standards, and deliver efficient and courteous customer service.

Dr Mokomane’s message served as both a welcome and a challenge to the future pharmacists to rise to the occasion and embody the values that will uphold the reputation of the profession in an ever-evolving healthcare environment.
