Motswana Deaf Student Graduates With A BS In Biology And BA In Chemistry In USA
Chris Rudeboy Mbochwa is an example of how hard work and determination pays off. This deaf young man born in Tutume village became deaf at the age of 6 years. The proudly deaf individual is one of the most intelligent and ambitious young men in this country. Chris has just graduated from Gallaudet university in USA with a BS in Biology and BA in Chemistry.
He has gone through a lot of hardships in life, but his background or loss of his sister during his schooling did not deter him from his ultimate goal. The medium of instruction in his varsity was sign language(as it should be for a signer) one thing that the education system in Botswana should do for deaf learners.
Every time you think of quitting your job and fed up with the politics of hard of hearing, media hungry selfish non signers take a moment and think of Chris, Poloko, Boitumelo, Disoso, Angie and other outstanding deaf individuals who have managed to break the glass ceiling and assure yourself that it is possible, it is possible to transform the Deaf community in our country.
We hope other deaf Batswana draw inspiration from these success stories and make adjustments to their lives and aim higher than the system limits them. Congratulations Chris..WE SALUTE YOU.
