The Ministry Of Health Looking For Community Volunteers

The government of Botswana has been concerned at the rate at which Batswana continue to abuse intoxicating liquor and other substances. The ministry of health through the Department of Public Health wishes to engage the community volunteers to carry out District Specific campaigns to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and substance abuse. The community volunteers will form clusters in the district and decide and implement strategies to combat excessive uses of alcohol and other substances within 6 months.
All volunteers are expected to
– conduct not less than 20 community conversations in a month
– conduct at least 20 house to house campaigns in a month
– give health talks in local clinics at least once a week
– form at least 1 support group within the six months period
– Collect and collate data from health facilities within their facilities using DMHT alcohol related statistics.
– submit quality report to the focal person or nurses in charge in their localities who will both forward the report to the Health Education Officer
– monitoring tool which will be shared with the Health Education Officer and the nurses in charge to ensure the compliance by the volunteers
Capabilities
Suitably experienced persons on behavior modification will have an added advantage
Applicants with experience on voluntary work will have an added advantage
Must be able to speak to the local language.
Hours Of Work And Incentives.
The volunteers should be expected to work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. They will be incentives at a fixed rate of P51.75 per days worked. They will be given P30.00 per day worked to cover transport costs.
Qualifications
– JC or Cambridge
– Must be 18-35 years
