Choppies Fulfills Its P300 000 Promise to the Zebras
In a moment that showcased strong corporate support for sports in Botswana, Choppies has delivered on its incentive pledge to the national football team, the Zebras. During a Botswana Football Association (BFA) press conference, held to highlight President Tariq Babitseng’s first 100 days in office, Choppies formally announced the fulfillment of their promise.
Choppies Marketing and Public Relations Officer, Kebonyemodisa Kebonyemodisa, emphasized the company’s enduring commitment to promoting sports in the country. He stated, “Choppies will forever support sport in Botswana whenever they get a chance,” affirming that the company is dedicated to uplifting national teams and motivating them to achieve greater success.
Recognizing the Zebras’ recent impressive performance in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, with consecutive wins over Cape Verde, Choppies has pledged P300,000. This incentive acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the players and the technical staff. The company expressed that this contribution is both a reward for past achievements and a motivation for the upcoming challenges, especially as the Zebras prepare for a critical match against Mauritania on November 15 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium. A victory in this match would secure their place in next year’s AFCON tournament.
Additionally, Choppies remains a significant sponsor of youth football, committing P5.7 million to support the national boys’ and girls’ under-18 and under-15 teams. This contribution underscores the company’s investment in the future of sports in Botswana.
BFA President Tariq Babitseng confirmed the reception of the pledges from Choppies and Zac Construction, which have each committed P10,000 for every player and technical staff member, covering 23 players and 7 technical team members. Babitseng himself has pledged an additional P5,000 to celebrate the team’s triumph against Cape Verde.
Looking ahead, Choppies has announced plans to increase the incentive for the Zebras in the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Mauritania. The company’s steadfast support highlights its role as a driving force behind the country’s football aspirations, as the nation rallies behind the Zebras in their quest for continental glory.
