Issues of health and safety are a priority for government, especially after the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.

Businessman, Onty Bagwasi, who used to run the annual Serowe Born and Raised music festival said this during the Mr and Miss Serowe Sub-district (SAA) wellness beauty contest on Friday.

The aim of the pageant, which involved council staff and councillors, was to raise funds for the implementation of occupational health and safety programmes as well as activities.

The event was held under the theme: A healthy Workforce Towards 2036.

Bagwasi said occupational safety, health and environment were not only limited to the welfare of employees, but also beneficial to the general public, which was why council had taken a decision to extend the event to the community and business entities.

Jonathan Tsheko and Chandapiwa Chinga were crowned the SAA best couple, with Keitumetse Baboile and Ambrocia Keamogetse being the first runners up, while Councillor Edward Gaefele and Eunice Tomeletso were the second runners up. ENDs
