Children With Special Needs Assisted With spectacles

Minister for State President Kabo Morwaeng has commended different stakeholders who collaborated with the Special Olympics International and Special Olympics Botswana to assist 49 children with special needs to be helped with spectacles worth over sixty thousand pula
Speaking this morning in Gaborone at the handing over of the spectacles Minister Morwaeng said the spirit of giving, collaboration for the less privileged and those with disability is indeed deeply heartwarming.
He said the gesture will enhance the quality of life of the children who benefited from the gesture.
Minister Morwaeng revealed that government is in the process of drafting the Disability Bill expected to be presented to Parliament before the end of 2023. “This Bill will amongst others institute a National Disability Council and set up a Disability Coordinating Office, and this will enhance the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability as well as promoting equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.” He added
For her part Special Olympics Botswana Patron Tebelelo Seretse, called on communities and the private sector to play their part in supporting people with special needs and disability. She said access to facilities requires all to design facilities in such a way that all are able to access without limitation despite the disability.
