Business Botswana is set to announce the establishment of the Business Disaster Management Fund today, an initiative aimed at mobilizing resources for relief efforts in response to the heavy rains affecting various parts of the country.

According to Business Botswana President Neo Nwako, the fund will provide much-needed assistance to businesses and communities impacted by the adverse weather conditions. He emphasized the importance of a swift and coordinated response to mitigate the effects of the ongoing downpours, which have disrupted economic activities and posed significant challenges to businesses.

To ensure proper management of the fund, an interim governance committee has been established. This committee will oversee the administration and coordination of contributions, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution of relief efforts. Further details, including how businesses and individuals can contribute to the fund, will be shared throughout the day.

Nwako also urged businesses to adopt flexible working conditions where possible, including remote work arrangements, to minimize disruptions caused by the rains. He emphasized that safety should be a priority and encouraged businesses to support their employees during this period of unpredictable weather.

With the Business Disaster Management Fund, Business Botswana hopes to bring together the corporate sector to provide critical support for those affected while reinforcing resilience in the face of natural disasters.
