Botswana’s Incoming President, Duma Boko Reacts to Landslide Win
Gaborone, Botswana – Duma Boko, incoming president of Botswana, has reacted jubilantly to his party’s landslide victory in the national elections. In a series of emphatic social media posts, Boko expressed his gratitude to Batswana and underscored the historic moment his election represents.
“CHANGE IS HERE,” Boko wrote, capturing the anticipation and excitement of his supporters across the country. The post, which has gone viral, reflects the core message of his campaign, which emphasized transformation and hope for a new direction in governance.
This statement followed an earlier post from Boko, reading “Botswana First🇧🇼,” a slogan that resonated with many voters during the campaign period. His messaging has consistently focused on prioritizing the needs of the nation and promoting a sense of unity among Batswana.
However, in a more serious and precautionary message posted during the vote-counting process, Boko urged his supporters to remain vigilant until every ballot had been accounted for. “Let us continue to maintain vigilance and discipline in monitoring these elections to the end,” he wrote. Emphasizing the importance of electoral integrity, he added, “Counting centers remain places of further rigging and we should not let up. Do not leave IEC and police officers with boxes during breaks, we will celebrate once the job is complete, not now. It is not over yet until the final ballot is counted.”
These remarks highlight the president-elect’s focus on ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the electoral process. His call for vigilance reflects past concerns about election integrity in Botswana and resonated with a populace eager for change but wary of potential irregularities.
Whilst the election results are still coming in at time of publishing he is currently leading with 26 parliamentarians which is almost 10 times current governing partiy’s 3. Boko’s victory has sparked celebrations and discussions about the future of Botswana. Supporters are hopeful that his administration will bring the promised change, addressing economic and social challenges while strengthening democratic institutions.
With the election over, all eyes are on Boko as he prepares to take office and lead the nation. The coming weeks will be crucial as he outlines his vision and sets the tone for a new era in Botswana’s history.
