Botswana U20 Get Ready For U20 AFCON Qualifiers
Botswana’s under-20 side are busy preparing for their 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Zimbabwe. The Young Zebras team have a few players who belong to Botswana Premier League (BPL) sides including Motlakase Power Dynamos’s Gape Mohutsiwa.
Local veteran coach Phillimon Makhwengwe is in charge of the team and he is assisted by Tshepo Mphukuthi and Barobi Nwako. Botswana are set to travel to Swaziland U20 on Friday for friendly matches as they prepare for the Young Warriors of Zimbabwe
Swaziland U20 are also scheduled to take on the Young Brave Warriors of Namibia in 2017 U20 AFCON qualifiers next month. The Young Warriors will host the Young Zebras on the weekend of 1–3 April 2016, while the return leg is scheduled to take place three weeks later.
The winner on aggregate between Botswana and Zimbabwe will take on Cameroon in the second round of qualification. Next year’s U20 AFCON tournament will be hosted by Zambia between 26 February and 12 March.
