Though a number of social commentators and opposition politicians had complained that the vaccines from COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access) and AVATT (African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team) we are currently anticipating has no clear roll-out plan let alone dates of arrival, the vaccine from China followed the same terrain; with no specified quantity, arrival dates, and vaccine roll-out plan.

His Excellency, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi announced the information about the Chinese Vaccine- Sinopharm in thanks to the Chinese Government during a valedictory call by the Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, His Excellency Dr Zhao Yanbo who is completing his tour of duty in Botswana.

China was also involved in the recently completed primary school in Mmopane. Moreover, it has donated over seven million pula (P7 million) worth of street lights in Gakhibane, Khuis and Makopong in the Kgalagadi South constituency.

Amid fears of state capture, President Masisi has emphasized that “Botswana remains a non-aligned country, a position borne out of a commitment to ensure the survival of the human race.” A stance that he says Botswana is enjoying internal and international peace because of.
