SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICER (OVC) 1
REF: SWO/001/OVC/2023

Main purpose of the job: to be responsible for Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s programs including youth and Grandmothers.

Reports to: Centre Director

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Be responsible for the day to day supervision and smooth running of all Programs under Stephen Lewis Foundation, thus Day Care Centre, Afterschool program, Youth Support Group and Grandmothers Support Group.
  2. Review teachers’ weekly plans, observe and advice teachers on their teaching and interaction with pupils.
  3. Participate and support the outreach activity to identify and assess the living environment of the way-ward children.
  4. Establish linkages with Government and Non- Governmental Organizations that provides services to children to help children who face problems such as abuse and poverty.
  5. Provide guidance and referral services for children with specialized needs and ascertain that appropriate service was provided.
  6. Be responsible for documentation and periodic reviewing of children’s personal files.
  7. Work with local primary school teachers to identify and enrol low achievers (who are from vulnerable families) in to the after school program.
  8. Recruit, coordinate and support youth in all their activities and maintain their records.
  9. Support and attend Grandmothers’ meetings to assist them in their activities and their initiatives.
  10. Assist and support Grandmothers and Youth in their income generating activities.
  11. Write and submits reports as per the Organization and donor requirements.
  12. Take active part in District – sub Committees that deal with OVC issues and liaise with Social Community Development Office when need arise.
  13. Organise and run OVC workshops together with her staff (OVC staff).
  14. Work closely with the Day Care Teachers when drawing the menu for children, with the advice of the Nurse Counsellor.
  15. Undertake any other duties at the exigency of the services.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Interested candidates should have completed BGCSE.
• Diploma in Social Work.
• Must have previous experience as a Social Worker in an Institution/Organization etc.

ASSISTANT DAY CARE TEACHER (1)

REF: ADCT /001/OVC/2023

Main purpose of the job: Assist in the implementation of the Children Stimulation Program Activities.

Reports to: Day Care Teacher and indirectly to Social Worker

Your roles and responsibilities include to:

  1. Assist and support Day Care Teacher in providing stimulation activities for children, thus; teaching children how to sing rhymes, paint, draw, write and general morals.
  2. Assist in helping children carry out their tasks in the absence of the teacher or assigned.
  3. Assist in the preparation of well nourishing and meals under good hygienic standards strictly following the menu list in the absence of a cook.
  4. Assist the cook to carry children’s food from the kitchen to where they eat.
  5. Supervises children during eating, rest time, play time and routine toilet use.
  6. Maintains the general cleanliness of the environment including classroom, children themselves and the surroundings.
  7. Assist the teacher to develop the teaching aids and ensure that the teaching aids are properly packed.
  8. Trains children to safely pack teaching aids after use.
  9. Undertake routine physical check-up annually.
  10. Participate in all activities geared towards equipping Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) lively hoods.
  11. Assist in organising meetings by delivering letters to parents and attends the said meetings.
  12. Report any abnormal conditions observed in children to supervisor.
  13. Participates in workshops, excursions and retreats arranged to benefit OVC programme.
  14. Assist in cleaning the classrooms, storeroom, sick bay and the toilets in the absence of the cleaner, the help of the other cleaner in the Centre.
  15. Assist in cleaning playgrounds.
  16. Assist to prepare the Day Care reports when required.
  17. Undertake any other duties at the exigency of the Organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Interested candidates should have completed BGCSE and above.
• Any related Certificate in Early Childhood Education will be an added advantage.

Cleaner (1)

Main purpose of the job: Maintain cleanliness of the Day Care Centre.

Accountable /Reports to: Social Worker/Admin Officer

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your Roles and Responsibilities include to:

  1. Always wear clean uniform while on duty.
  2. Clean offices, classrooms, store rooms, sick bay and toilets daily after school when children are not in.
  3. Assist in cleaning of playgrounds.
  4. Ensure maximum cleanliness of the Library every day.
  5. Clean toilets thoroughly using gloves and disinfectants on daily basis.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of the walls, carpets and windows including doors and frames.
  7. Empty bins every day before leaving work.
  8. Report diminishing cleaning disinfectants and soaps as well as items that need replacement to Supervisor.
  9. To prepare tea during special meetings.
  10. Ensure that the toilets and classroom doors are locked every day before knocking off.
  11. Undertake any other related duty at the exigency of the service.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Interested candidates should have completed JC or above certificate/s.
• Must have previous experience as a cleaner in an Institution/Organization etc.
