Botswana Police College Hosts Royal Eswatini Police Delegation for Benchmarking Exercise

Botswana Police College yesterday, March 24, 2025, welcomed a delegation of eight officers from the Royal Eswatini Police Service for a four-day benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening police training and institutional development. The delegation is led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Bonginkhosi Dlamini.

Welcoming the team, the Director of Training, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Dipontsho Pharithi, expressed her delight in hosting the officers from Eswatini. She highlighted the deep historical ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to regional collaboration in law enforcement, public safety, and security. She encouraged the delegation to take full advantage of the visit, emphasizing that the exchange of ideas and best practices would be mutually beneficial for both police institutions.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Pharithi underscored the importance of knowledge-sharing in modern policing, noting that Botswana Police College also stands to benefit from the experiences and insights brought by the Royal Eswatini Police Service. She reaffirmed the Botswana Police Service’s (BPS) dedication to fostering regional partnerships that enhance law enforcement training and capacity building.

Assistant Commissioner Dlamini expressed gratitude to BPS for facilitating the benchmarking exercise, stating that the experience would be invaluable in helping Eswatini’s police service secure full accreditation and registration of its training programmes, in line with the requirements of the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC).

The four-day programme will cover various aspects of police training and administration, including institutional governance, basic recruit training, supervisory and management courses, quality assurance, student affairs, and curriculum development. The exercise is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two police services and contribute to improving training standards in both countries.
