Botswana is one of the countries that was directed by the apartheid turmoil in the neighboring South Africa. The Botswana National Youth Council, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sport & Culture shall organize the Commemoration of the Day of The African Child.
The event will be commemorated under the theme Conflicts and Crises In Africa Lessons From Botswana and Lessons For Botswana.The event shall be officially opened by Hon Thapelo Olopeng, The Minister of Youth, Sport & Culture.
The event shall be held at the Botswana National Youth Council, on the 16th June 2016 starting 07:30 hrs. Young people and organisations that work towards the empowerment of youth, are invited.
Activities at the commemoration shall include Talk Shows, Panel Discussions, Drama & Theater to celebrate youth of Botswana and their contribution over the past 50 years.
The June 16 Commemoration shall also be a platform for interrogation of the Children’s Act, reconciling it with other pieces of legislation and policies targeting youth and children to determine gaps and effectiveness as a platforms for protection of Botswana Children.
