The second edition of the Botswana International Cross Country (BICC) is set to take place tomorrow at the Glody Dube International School in Modipane, with about 150 athletes, mostly local, expected to participate. This event, organized by the Golden Door Sports Agency, serves as a vital stepping stone for athletes aiming to qualify for the 2026 International Cross Country Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

According to BICC Public Relations Officer Calistus Kolantsho, the competition has been meticulously planned to meet international standards while promoting local talent. “The course in Modipane is the home ground for the Golden Door Sports Agency and is designed to world athletics specifications,” Kolantsho noted.

The challenging two-kilometer loop includes a variety of obstacles such as hills, water puddles, and sand stretches, creating a rigorous test of endurance and skill for participants. Kolantsho emphasized that the agency is committed to preparing local athletes to compete on a global stage, fostering their growth and enhancing their competitiveness.

The BICC aims to not only provide a platform for athletes to showcase their abilities but also to inspire the next generation of runners in Botswana. By hosting such events, the Golden Door Sports Agency is playing a critical role in elevating the country’s athletics scene and nurturing talent capable of excelling internationally.

With anticipation building, tomorrow’s event promises to be a thrilling display of athleticism and determination, as local runners vie for a chance to represent Botswana on the world stage in 2026.
