His Excellency the President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi says Government will do its best to ensure that every child in Botswana is equipped with the necessary skills to compete with the best in the world.
In his address at the Handover ceremony of 75 letters about ‘How the Children Re-imagine Education’ from children across Botswana at the State House today, President Masisi said the Ministry of Education and Skills Development has started reviewing the current curriculum. The aim of the review is to ensure that the curriculum produces critical and innovative thinkers who are well-equipped to find solutions to the challenges of today’s world.
He said that the Government will continue to ensure that the education system is inclusive, and that no child is left behind.
“I do not want any child to miss the opportunity to learn just because they are from marginalized communities, and that they have dropped out of school due to pregnancy or any other reasons”. said President Masisi.
He added that teachers will be trained to improve on innovative teaching, learning methods and the use of technology.
President Masisi highlighted that the Government will speed up internet connection through SmartBots initiative which has already connected many schools to the internet adding that learners will soon receive computers and other gadgets to modernize the learning experiences.
He urged student to take part in protecting the buildings and the equipment’s they use so that they can be used by others and also asked the student to stay away from drugs.
