The Government of Botswana has commended the African Union Commission for its diplomatic and political efforts to end atrocities, human suffering and gross human rights violations in Sudan.
Speaking during the AU Commission Peace and Security Council virtual summit today, His Honour the Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said there is an impending famine, which further compounds the humanitarian crises in Sudan, adding that this prompts all to reconsider and reinvigorate efforts in finding a lasting and sustainable peace that the people of Sudan so much deserve.
He emphasized the need for the warring parties, notably the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Force (RSF) to immediately cease-fire to allow for the commencement and resumption of dialogue.
The Vice President stated that Botswana
remain committed to support all efforts of the African Union Commission to find peaceful resolution to the war.
