Botswana Becomes The First Country In Africa To Hold World Youth Netball Championships
The count down has begun for us to make history. In 2013 Botswana was awarded the rights to host the 2017 World Youth Netball Championships beating their bid rival, Cook Islands. Botswana will be the first country in Africa to host this important event.
The World Youth Netball Championships is the world championships of netball for national U21 teams and the last tournament was held in Scotland-Glasgow. The draw for the Netball World Youth Cup 2017 has already taken place in Gaborone, a few months back. This event will be staged next July in Gaborone, with 20 teams from all over the world competing, following regional qualifiers
We have already qualified by virtue of being hosts, and with home ground advantage, our girls are at a greater chance of making us proud. Botswana has already hosted the Africa Netball World Youth Cup Qualifiers which determined the 3 African countries to qualify. New Zealand are the defending Champions.
