Beyonce And Adele Dominate MTV’s VMA Nominations
Beyoncé and Adele are the leading nominees for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, with Bey leading all contenders with a career high of 11 nominations for her visual album Lemonade. Adele follows hot on her heels with eight nods for her global smash 25. The pair will compete for the night’s top honour in the form of Video Of The Year, alongside Kanye West, Drake and Justin Bieber.
Beyonce’s whopping 11 nods are thanks to her album Lemonade, with Formation up for Video Of The Year, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. Adele’s Hello received seven nods: Video Of The Year, Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
Interestingly, Kanye is nominated for his controversial Famous video, which sees him and wife Kim Kardashian lying nude in bed with wax figures depicting celebrities including Taylor Swift naked. There are also naked wax figures of Chris Brown, Rihanna, Caitlyn Jenner, Amber Rose, Ray J, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, Bill Cosby and George W. Bush.
The late David Bowie picked up four nominations, one for Blackstar(Best Art Direction) and three for Lazarus (Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing).
