The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) has announced reductions in retail pump prices for various fuel products, effective at midnight tonight. This adjustment comes as a result of declining international oil prices, according to a statement from BERA officials.
The price changes are as follows:
- Unleaded petrol 93: Decrease of 31 thebe per litre
- Unleaded petrol 95: Decrease of 27 thebe per litre
- Diesel 50ppm: Decrease of 10 thebe per litre
- Illuminating paraffin: Decrease of 15 thebe per litre
The price drop is expected to bring some relief to consumers, especially given the economic pressures of recent months. Lower fuel prices will likely reduce transportation costs and may positively impact the cost of goods and services in the coming weeks.
BERA has reiterated its commitment to monitoring global oil price trends and ensuring that local fuel prices remain fair and reflective of international market dynamics. Consumers are encouraged to take advantage of these adjustments while remaining mindful of energy conservation and efficient fuel usage.
This latest development highlights the impact of global market conditions on Botswana’s economy and underscores the importance of keeping citizens informed about changes that directly affect their daily lives.
