The Leader of Opposition in parliament (LOO), Honourable Dumelang Saleshando has bashed on the government for being careless. Saleshando says the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) government has a weird ‘talent’ of carelessness, and turning a blind eye to important things.
Speaking today in his debate during a parliament session, the Leader of Opposition backslashed the the ruling party about the recent turn of events on the ‘Butterfly’ case.
“BDP members, you have a shocking ‘talent’ of ignoring important things, and talk about them as if they do not matter. The other ‘talent’ is caring less if something is filthy and unpleasant. One day you will be forced to explain it in acceptable words, the government which can accuse someone of ‘terrorism’, then withdraw the charges because of lack of evidence.” Saleshando lambasted.
Saleshando is of the view that the people in government are wrongfully accusing people, damaging their reputations, and destroying their lives because those in government do not know how it feels like.
“Yes! Maybe we feel the words are not pleasant because we are not the victims, because our sisters are not the victims. One day this government will continue to wrongfully arrest other people, similar laws are going to be used, the laws look genuine but we have proof that those laws were not properly used in the past. Today we may take it lightly because we do not know Butterfly’s family, maybe we take it lightly because we do not know who is the next victim. But what we know is that, under this government, soon someone will be a victim.” Charged Saleshando.
Saleshando was quoting Butterfly’s Hundred Billion Pula (P100 billion) case which the government recently lost. Ms. Wilhelmina Maswabi, codenamed ‘Butterfly’, was accused of funding terrorism among other charges. The P100 billion which was alleged to have made its way from the central Bank of Botswana caused Botswana to be grey listed.
