Bagwasi To Miss All Africa Championships Due To Stab Wounds
National team boxer Kagiso Bagwasi will miss the all Africa championships this weekend after being stabbed by two men on his way to training.
The boxer said he was cycling from UB to Ledumang and the two men apparently greeted him and went on to demand his cell phone, that’s when a fight broke and upon realising he had the upper hand, stabbed him and fled the scene.
The 24 year old DTCB Boxing Club boxer said he lost so much blood on the scene as people gathered to take pictures instead of helping. He was later taken to Princess Marina hospital where it was discovered that some veins and arteries had been affected but the doctors said he would be fine next year.
His coach, Thebe Setlalekgosi said he will do his best to make sure that Bagwasi gets the best medical attention, adding he is working hand in hand with the family to give maximum support to the boxing star.
“We have submitted an incident report to the Botswana National Sport Commission in order to assist us with the funds to cover his medical expenses and the needs of the athletes,”
