Amantle Montsho Targets Next Year’s London World Championships Finals

After serving her two-year ban from the athletics,our golden girl Amantle Montsho is setting her dreams even higher. Her target for now, is to reach the finals of the London World Championships slated for next year, where she says she will even be happy to finish in the top three. “Yes a top three finish will be an achievement for me given my poor fitness, but I will still be happy to reach the event’s final,” Montsho told The Midweek Sun.

Montsho’s suspension after testing positive for banned methylhexaneamine at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland meant she could not participate in any athletics event sanctioned by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). She lost a lot of supporters including her manager of 6 years. With the ban ending on August 1,she is now a much stronger person and is raring to go again.

We all know her potential, and are adamant that she is going to put us back on the world map again. As much as she is rusty from lack of training and not being competitive,with the right support structure, Montsho could keep those medals coming. Montsho won’t stay long on the track though as she plans to retire after the World Championships, to focus on her property business and to start a family.
