Maldives Athletes Training In Botswana Show Progress

Five athletes and one official from Maldives Olympic Committee are currently in Botswana to undergo extensive training in preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The athletes continue to show growth since their arrival in Botswana earlier this year, under the tutelage of local coach Mr Mogomotsi Otsetswe.

They have broken their country records in events such as 400m, 100m and Medley Relay including at last weekend’s Botswana National Championships at the National Stadium in Gaborone. The athletes are based at the Botswana National Sports Commission’s Athletes Village and train at the National Stadium, under the guidance of Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) coaches.

The Maldives is an Indian Ocean Asian Island with a population of about 393 500 as per the 2013 estimates. Big up to Botswana for showing that sports is about helping each other with the little resources we have.
