10 Ways To Take Proper Care Of Your Smartphone
Cell phones are an everyday essential and an important way to stay connected to family and friends daily. Maintaining and backing up your smartphone smartly will help insure that it serves you faithfully throughout the years. If smartphones are so central to our lives, it’s time to get smart about buying and caring for them.
1. Buy A Case.
These will take care of your phone by preventing it from being subject to knocks and scratches. This helps to keep the phone’s appearance longer and may also protect it from some internal damage should you accidentally knock or drop the phone.
2. Find A Safe Place To Keep It When Not In Use.
It should be somewhere that is out of the way and where the phone is not likely to be knocked onto the floor or trodden on. For example, good places include keeping it on a desk, bookshelf, or in a cabinet. It’s a good idea to choose one spot where it always goes (near a recharger) so that you can find it with ease, any time.
3. Keep Your Phone Dry.
We all know that water and cellphones do not mix. Stay always from situations that can make the two meet. Don’t talk on your cell phone while it’s raining, do not eat or drink near the phone, and avoid carrying it near open water (such as a pond, the beach, or toilets).
4. Clean Your Phone Regularly.
Use dry tissue paper or alcohol wipes to clean the phone’s exterior surfaces. Do not use water, baby wipes, or other cleaners that may inadvertently add moisture to your phone.
5. Take Your Phone With You Whenever Possible.
Never let your phone leave your sight. Avoid lending your phone to others, even if done under your supervision, as accidents can and will happen once in a while. Unless otherwise, make sure you leave it with a very responsible adult.
6. Avoid Leaving Your Battery At Zero.
Smartphone batteries will degrade in time, eventually, but there are some ways that can help slow that process down. Simple solution- leave some battery free in your phone. When your smartphones reach zero percent, aka- the lowest of lows, it can cause damage internally with the phone.
7. Keep Your Phone At Cool Temperature.
It is crucial to keep your phone in a temperate zone because the worst enemy for lithium-ion batteries is heat. Keeping your phone as close to room temperature is idyllic, and if your keeping all your gadgets right next to each other, separate them. Separating your smartphone, iPad, and laptop allows your devices to breathe instead of creating more heat.
8. Train Your Battery Memory.
Just like us humans, phones have nicle-based batteries that contain lithium-ion battery, which requires some special care. To maximize your lithium-ion battery, try keeping your battery around 50% as much as possible. Going all the way to the full 100 percent is great and all, but it will hurt your phone in the long run.
9. Back Up Your Data.
Some data is stored on the phone’s SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card, which stores your phone number and carrier information. But there’s so much more information on your device. Connect it regularly to your computer via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to back it up.
10. Set up GPS Tracking Software.
With the right software set up ahead of time, if you lose your phone, you can locate it, send a message to whomever has it, or even remotely wipe the database. Some providers and phone manufacturers offer this service.
