If you’ve got a big block of free time, the normal thing to do is to relax, have fun, decompress from a stressful day. But now, rather than just spending your time lying around and doing nothing you ought to make each and every moment count by doing something productive that interests you. So here is a list of some productive things that you can do in your spare time, you are bound to have a lot of fun!
1. Make A Plan For Your Free Time.
Free time will only become useful to you if you’ve focused on how you’d like to use it. Simply expecting free time to turn productive, creative, or fulfilling won’t bring it about because you haven’t thought about the process needed to fill that time effectively.
2. Brainstorm Ideas.
Even if you have 5 minutes to spare, it is enough to brainstorm. Take out your pocket notebook, and start a brainstorming list for a project or article. Whatever you’ve got coming up in your work or personal life, it can benefit from a brainstorm. And that doesn’t take long.
3. Follow Up.
Keep a follow-up list for everything you’re waiting on. Return calls, emails, memos , anything that someone owes you, put on the list. When you’ve got a spare 10 minutes, do some follow-up calls or emails.
4. Be Early.
Do you have some spare time before a meeting? Then show up for the meeting early. Sure, you might feel like a chump sitting there alone, but actually people respect those who show up early. It’s better than being late.
5. Take A Walk.
This is also a form of exercise that doesn’t take long, and you can do it anywhere and even more important, it’s a good way to stretch your legs from sitting at your desk too long, and it gets your creative juices flowing. If you’re ever stuck for ideas, taking a walk is a good way to get unstuck.
6. Read.
Reading is a lifelong skill, and successful people never stop reading new books. Whether it’s fiction or nonfiction, books help give you a greater understanding of the world around you. Reading regularly helps to build your vocabulary and your semantic comprehension, giving you greater communication skills.
7. Spend Time With Loved Ones.
Don’t hide yourself away all the time when it comes to free time. Reach out to others and spend time with people you care about. Schedule regular get-togethers with friends, hang out spontaneously now and then, and catch up with family members you haven’t seen for awhile to see how they’re doing.
8. Volunteer.
If you’ve already volunteered, you’ll be aware of the benefits it can bring. If you have enough free time to give of your time to others in need, this can be a very fulfilling way to give back to your community or society.
9. Meditate.
Trying to survive in this modern world is tough indeed. It is of paramount importance to spend at least a part of your free time in mediation so as to ensure that you do not crack under pressure and undergo a mental break down.
10. Put Yourself First.
A great way to productively spend your free time would be looking into your personal care. Whether it is your nails that need filing, your clothes that need ironing, your hair that needs to be oiled or your shoes that need to be polished you should look into it
