14-Year Old Besa Masaiti Awarded Woman Candidate Master Title!
Dynamite does come in small packages. We are slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Chess in this country. Our very own Besa Masaiti made us proud by being awarded the Woman Candidate Master title by the World Chess Federation.
Besa’s performance at the 2015 African Youth Chess Championship which were held in Lusaka, Zambia, from the 6th to the 12th December 2015 qualified her for the title. She won a bronze medal with a performance score of 6/9 ponits (66.7%) .
Woman Candidate Master (achieved at some time a rating of 2000) is the lowest-ranking title awarded by FIDE. The requirements for the WCM title are easier than those for the unrestricted title, Candidate Master (2200). We are proud of this young woman and are hoping for the Woman FIDE Master (WFM) soon.
