At just 15 years old, Sakshi Bargava is making a significant impact in Botswana through her organization, the Able Hearts Foundation. Based in Francistown, the foundation focuses on uplifting marginalized women and girls, ensuring they have access to education, mentorship, and opportunities for empowerment.
Sakshi’s dedication to gender equality recently earned her a place at the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the United Nations headquarters in New York. As one of the youngest attendees, she carried the voices of Botswana’s rural girls to a global platform, advocating for their inclusion in international discussions on women’s rights and empowerment.
“I went there to ensure that the realities of girls and women in Botswana, especially in rural villages, were part of the global conversation on gender equality and empowerment,” Sakshi stated.
Her participation at CSW69 highlights her commitment to creating tangible change and amplifying the struggles faced by underprivileged women and girls in Botswana. Through the Able Hearts Foundation, Sakshi continues to work toward bridging the gender gap by providing support systems and opportunities that empower women to overcome socio-economic challenges.
Her inspiring journey serves as a testament to the power of youth-led initiatives in driving meaningful change, both locally and globally.
