Imagine a farm where success isn’t just about crops and livestock but about empowering others to thrive alongside you. Meet Ndinaye Chengeta, a visionary Botswana farmer whose innovative approach is reshaping agriculture and fostering a community of prosperous entrepreneurs.
In a heartfelt and eye-opening social media post, Chengeta shared his farming philosophy: creating opportunities for others while building a thriving ecosystem of collaboration, trust, and mutual benefit. His unique model is transforming lives and inspiring a new generation of agricultural success stories.
“I Need Them to Win Because I Need Them More Than They Need Me”
At the heart of Chengeta’s model is a simple yet powerful idea—collaboration. He provides aspiring farmers with spaces, resources, and support to launch their agricultural projects on his farm. More than just landlords, Chengeta’s tenants become his partners and supervisors, ensuring that every corner of the farm operates efficiently.
His generosity doesn’t end there. Chengeta supports his tenants in marketing their products, helping them secure markets and expand their ventures. “I don’t compete with them,” he explains. “I plan ahead to help them grow. My tenants are producing over 30,000 eggs every week, and we’re planning to double that to 60,000.”
Turning Tenants into Business Partners
Chengeta’s tenants pay just P900 per month for a single unit, which includes water, labor, security, and even a cage for their layers. They are welcome to bring additional equipment without any extra costs, ensuring they can maximize their profits without worrying about overheads.
Unlike other landlords who exploit their tenants’ success, Chengeta actively supports their growth. He envisions each tenant achieving a minimum of 200 layers, expanding into goat or sheep farming, and playing a role in the value chain by producing feeds, trays, and organic manure.
This visionary approach has attracted attention from organizations like the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA), which is now exploring ways to support Chengeta’s tenants with mentorship and market access.
A Farm Where Numbers Speak
Chengeta’s genius lies in his ability to harness the power of collective production. With over 40 supervisors monitoring the farm, employees remain motivated and productive. His tenants, mature and business-minded, ensure the farm runs smoothly while uplifting their communities.
“Most people are cruel. They give someone space, and when they start making money, they kick them out. I don’t do that,” Chengeta says. His tenants thrive because of his unwavering commitment to their success.
A Visionary Future
Chengeta’s farm is more than just an agricultural space—it’s a hub of opportunity, innovation, and empowerment. By fostering collaboration and supporting tenants, he’s creating a ripple effect of success that extends far beyond his farm.
As production scales up and partnerships grow, Chengeta is proving that generosity and vision can drive both profitability and progress. His story is a blueprint for how farming, when approached with heart and strategy, can transform lives.
This is more than farming—it’s a movement. And Ndinaye Chengeta is leading the charge.
