Jeremiah Frenzel, the Member of Parliament for Shashe West, has expressed his disappointment following the announcement that the construction of the A3 dual carriageway, a key road project linking Francistown to Nata, has stalled. This news comes after the Assistant Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Keoagile Atamelang, informed parliament that the project is currently under review.

The A3 road, which serves as a major transport corridor connecting the north and south of Botswana, was expected to boost trade, improve road safety, and support regional development. The project had been anticipated to play a critical role in enhancing the country’s infrastructure and contributing to economic growth.

However, the revelation of the delay has raised concerns among local leaders, with Frenzel at the forefront of those calling for answers. In a recent statement, he expressed frustration over the halted progress, particularly given the project’s importance to the people of Shashe West and surrounding areas.

“I am extremely disappointed that the construction of the A3 dual carriageway has stalled. This road is a lifeline for our community, and its completion was expected to bring much-needed improvements to transport and trade within the region,” Frenzel said. “The people of Shashe West have waited long enough, and they deserve clarity on the reasons behind this delay.”

Frenzel’s concerns are shared by many local residents, business owners, and commuters who rely on the A3 road for daily travel and commerce. The dual carriageway was set to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce accidents, and provide a more efficient route for goods and services.

In his address, Assistant Minister Atamelang emphasized that the project is being reviewed to ensure that it aligns with the country’s long-term infrastructure plans. While the review process is underway, no specific timeline has been provided for the resumption of construction.

Frenzel and other MPs have called for greater transparency in the review process, urging the government to prioritize the timely completion of critical infrastructure projects that contribute to national development.

As the situation unfolds, the residents of Shashe West remain hopeful that the construction of the A3 road will resume soon, ensuring that the region’s transportation network is modernized and improved for future generations.
