Here Are Botswana President Duma Boko & VP Gaolathe Ndaba’s Salaries

Botswana’s political landscape recently saw the release of salary details for top government officials, shedding light on the earnings of the nation’s leadership. President Duma Gideon Boko earns a monthly salary of P110,425.73, while his Vice President, Gaolathe Ndaba, takes home P96,864.71 per month. These salaries, reflecting the responsibilities tied to their leadership roles, are among the highest in Botswana’s public sector. The figures exclude additional allowances and other benefits these officials may receive.

The Speaker of Parliament, Dithapelo Keorapetse, ranks third in earnings, with a monthly income of P85,666.58. Ministers across Botswana receive P74,468.46 each, while Assistant Ministers take home P57,303.34 monthly. Other prominent roles, including the Deputy Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition, each command a salary of P65,885.91. Both government and opposition whips, as well as regular Members of Parliament, receive P48,312.80 monthly.

In addition to their base salaries, officials are entitled to sitting allowances for parliamentary sessions and official duties, which can add a significant supplement to their earnings. General sitting allowances are set at P517.02 per session, but higher rates apply to specific officials: the Speaker receives P630.00 per session, and the Deputy Speaker receives P525.00. These additional payments highlight the importance of parliamentary attendance and participation in Botswana’s legislative process.

These compensation packages are not only a reflection of the high-ranking nature of these roles but also underscore the government’s investment in retaining qualified leaders to guide the country’s development. Salaries for political leaders
