The acclaimed annual Maitisong Festival started in 1987. It has become the biggest arts festival in Gaborone, Botswana, bringing local and international theater, dance, poetry and music to fee-paying audiences in Maitisong, Botswana’s biggest theatre, and other entertainment centres around the capital. In the 1980’s the idea of Maitisong grew out of Maru a Pula School’s need for a hall.
