7th Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources 2024 Graduation

The 7th Graduation Ceremony of the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) marks a milestone in the institution’s mission to empower Batswana with the skills necessary for the future of agriculture and natural resources. As Botswana moves towards its Vision 2036 goals, BUAN is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s development. The event was a celebration not just of the graduates but also of BUAN’s expanding role in shaping the nation’s agricultural future.

In his address, Professor Ketlhatlogile Mosepele, Vice Chancellor of BUAN, emphasized the university’s commitment to growth and innovation. He underscored that for Botswana to reach Vision 2036 and beyond, BUAN needs to evolve rapidly to meet the challenges of an ever-changing agricultural landscape. Professor Mosepele announced that BUAN is expanding its footprint across Botswana, with new campuses and programs set to take root in the Tsabong, Hukuntsi, Charles Hill, and Ghanzi districts.

“We are intentional and deliberate about developing production-oriented programs to upskill and retool the youth primarily, and Batswana generally, in the agriculture and natural resources space,” said Professor Mosepele. This expansion is aimed at providing accessible education and practical training in agricultural techniques that can be implemented across the country.

While BUAN is a “work in progress,” the university’s plans reflect its dedication to delivering programs directly to the people of Botswana. As the institution grows, it is set to play an even larger role in addressing the agricultural needs of the nation, helping Botswana achieve food security, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.

The graduation ceremony was also a moment for the graduates to reflect on their journey and look forward to their future roles in advancing Botswana’s agricultural sector. With BUAN’s focus on practical, production-oriented education, these graduates are poised to be the leaders and innovators in agriculture and natural resource management. Their contributions will be essential in helping Botswana realize its Vision 2036 ambitions.

As BUAN continues to evolve, the expansion into key regions of Botswana signifies its commitment to making a lasting impact on the country’s agricultural industry. With new programs aimed at equipping the youth with the necessary skills, the future looks bright for both the university and the nation.
