His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi today graced the 16th Annual National Arts Festival hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture under the theme, “The Creative Economy: Botswana’s Economic Future Redefined” – “Tlhabololo ya Itsholelo ka Dikgwebo Tsa Botaki le Bodiragatsi.”
In his address, His Excellency applauded the artists for their incredible talent, dedication, and creativity, stating that their achievement is testament to the unwavering commitment of the Government of Botswana to support and uplift artists.
He said the theme of the ceremony resonates deeply with Pillar 1 of our national Vision which underscores our collective responsibility to nurture and develop the creative industries, recognising their potential to drive economic growth and diversification.
His Excellency encouraged everyone to recognize the arts as a vital source of income and employment. He emphasised the need to monetize cultural products, artifacts, and appreciate that innovation and creativity must be fully recognized as a source of revenue.
