IEC Updates Members of All Party Conference on Election Readiness

The Secretary for the Independent Electoral Commission, Mr Jefferson Siamisang yesterday updated members of All Party Conference on the process of election registration and IEC’s readiness for the upcoming elections.

Mr Siamisang highlighted that Constituencies have increased from 57 to 61, with polling districts increasing from 490 to 609, polling stations increased from 2258 to 2808 locally.

The IEC Chief highlighted that during the Voter registration that took place from 5th January to 31st March, 764 539 people registered, while during the 1st supplementary voter registration 74, 404 registered while197, 021 registered during the 2nd Supplementary voter registration period that ended on the 31st May 2024. In the diaspora polling stations registered 1725 Batswana.

Mr Siamisang stated that the inspection period of the 2nd supplementary voters’ registration exercise has been scheduled to run from the 5th July 2024 to 25th July 2024
