HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2024 BOTSWANA HEADS OF MISSION CONFERENCE

The 2024 Heads of Mission Conference for Botswana Envoys is currently ongoing in Gaborone, Botswana. The Conference which is held under the theme, “Advancing Botswana Towards, a High Income, Inclusive and Knowledge-based Economy through Strategic Global Engagements,” will conclude on 10th April 2024. As part of the first segment of the Conference, the Envoys met with His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, and Honourable Dr. Lemogang Kwape, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss issues of strategic and national interest.

The Envoys also engaged with leaders in the public and private sectors, on among others, the following issues: Reset and Reclaim Agenda; facilitation of Botswana towards a high-income economy; the MICE Strategy; Botswana’s trade policy and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA); the role Botswana Diplomatic Missions in investment promotion – value chain addition; as well as developments in the Botswana diamond industry. Furthermore, Botswana Envoys met with foreign Envoys accredited to Botswana. During the second segment of the Conference, the Botswana Envoys will undertake a working visits to Lobu Small Stock Farm; Jwaneng Mine; the Artificial Insemination Facility; and the Citrus Project.
