VICE CHAIRMAN OF THE STANDING COMMITTEE OF NPC PAYS COURTESY CALL ON ACTING PRESIDENT 

The Acting President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has expressed gratitude for the continued generous developmental support rendered by the government of the People’s Republic of China to Botswana. Acting President Tsogwane said this today during a courtesy call by the Delegation of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China at the Office of the President.

The Standing Committee is the high level body of the National People’s Congress of China which has legislative responsibilities and oversight of many organs of government.

Acting President Tsogwane said the committee’s visit to Botswana speaks volumes to the determination and the will to grow historical bonds of friendship and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. He added that the visit serves as an opportunity for both countries to share knowledge and learn about each other’s respective governance structure.

The delegation led by the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, His Excellency, Mr Peng Qinghua are in the country visiting the Parliament of Botswana on a 3 day working visit.

Diplomatic relations between Botswana and China were established in 1975 and the two have continued to enjoy steady growth in the scope of depth and cooperation.
